What To Expect After Radiation Treatment Ends
1/1
After radiation treatment ends, the radiation continues to actively work for a while in the area of your body that was treated. Since radiation treatment is cumulative, the effect may even be worse than during treatment.
Speak with the radiologist or nurse about how long to anticipate the effects will last, and what to do about them. It may be that you should continue to use the same creams and take the same steps as you did during your treatment.
If the affected area suddenly becomes red again months later, this is known as "radiation recall." If it continues, contact the radiologist. For information about radiation recall, click here.
