Benefits available to veterans include the following:

Disability Benefits: To learn more, see Disablility Compensation

Health Coverage: To learn more, see: Veterans' Health Coverage

Life Insurance: Available through Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) for active members and Veterans' Group Life Insurance (VGLI) which can be obtained by converting SGLI coverage or can be obtained by certain members of the Initial Ready Reserve and Inactive National Guard.

SGLI and VGLI are issued on a "Guarantee issue" basis which means that you can apply for this insurance even after you've been diagnosed with a health condition provided you meet the other eligibility requirements. For more information, call: 800.669.8477.

Specially Adapted Homes: VA may grant payment of a portion of the cost toward building, buying or remodeling homes to better accommodate a veteran's physical limitations.

Modification of Automobiles: Grants are also available to modify an auto to accommodate physical limitations.

Clothing Allowance: When needed to accommodate prosthetic or orthopedic appliances.

Educational Funding: Provides money to attend college and other vocational training.

Vocational Rehabilitation to help veterans with service-connected disabilities prepare for, find and keep suitable employment.  For veterans with serious service-connected disabilities, VA also offers services to improve ability to live as independently as possible.

Home Loan Guarantees for a part of a loan from a private lender to help purchase a home, some lots or condominiums. The VA also guarantees loans for building, repairing and improving homes, as well as refinancing.
