 Women

"Look Good…Feel Better" is a free, national public service program that is sponsored by The American Cancer Society, The Cosmetic, Toiletry, and Fragrance Association, and The National Cosmetology Association.

  • The program is dedicated to teaching female cancer patients beauty techniques to help restore their appearance and self-image during cancer treatment. The program was created from the concept that if a woman with cancer can be helped to look good, her improved self-esteem will help her approach the disease and treatment with greater confidence.
  • LGFB seminars teach women how to cope with the appearance-related side effects of cancer. Programs are conducted for small groups of 5-10 women or in individual sessions.
    • Women experiment with makeup, wigs, hats, turbans and scarves.
    • Experts teach the class how to use products such as moisturizers, cleanser, eyeliner and concealers.
    • Program materials include how-to videos and free makeup kits for patients attending workshops.
  • The workshops are available in all 50 states and are held in comprehensive cancer centers, local hospitals, salons, and other community settings. There are special programs adapted for teens and Spanish speaking patients. If no workshop is available, mail order publications and videos are.
