How To Cope With Fear Of An Upcoming Appointment With A Doctor

It is not unusual to be fearful of seeing a doctor.  Even if the appointment is a standard one, there can be the fear of what the doctor might say - no matter how irrational the fear may be.

NOTE:

  • If it becomes difficult to cope, especially if the fear interferes with your daily functioning or sleep,  contact your doctor's office, let them know what is happening, and ask if you can move the appointment sooner - or at least be put on the list to be called if someone else's appointment cancels.. If you explain the situation, perhaps your doctor can work you in before or after normal appointment hours.
